Shawnee Inn Wedding | Alannah + Brett | Lehigh Valley Wedding Photographers

Wedding

Alannah and Brett were due to be married in 2020, but after COVID foiled their original plans, they opted to postpone their wedding until they could have the celebration of their dreams. Their patience paid off and we were able to celebrate their beautiful, early summer wedding at Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort!

Getting Ready

Alannah and I had many conversations about where the bridal party would be getting ready on the day of the wedding. Hotel rooms are fine, but often times, the photography team is left with a cramped and dark space for bridal prep photographs. Alannah understood that in order to get bright, beautiful bridal prep and detail photographs we needed plenty of room and lots of natural light. In order to achieve that, they reserved the Worthington House near The Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort. The suites at the Worthington House are spacious, with large windows–a photographer’s dream! Alannah’s suite was especially amazing with tall ceilings, neutral walls and walls of windows.

Shortly after getting dressed, Alannah shared a brief first look with her father before reading a wedding day letter from Brett. Having little moments like this make for some beautiful, emotion-packed images!

First Look

Soon after reading their letters to one another, we went outside for their bride and groom first look! It was incredibly hot outside, so we found a shaded location on the property where Alannah and Brett could see one another for the first time. Following the first look, we took the quick drive over to Shawnee Inn to begin their formal portraits!

Bride + Groom Portraits

Doing bride and groom portraits shortly after the first look is always a great idea! Not only does the first look help shake off those pre-ceremony nerves, but it allows us more portrait time. More portrait time means more variety in the wedding day gallery and it allows the couple to have more time together on the wedding day.

Alannah and Brett factored in pre-ceremony portraits as well as some sunset portraits later on in the evening and I’m so glad they did! More portrait time always translates into more final images!

Bridal Party

We had the best time popping some champagne to celebrate Alannah and Brett’s big day and taking portraits of them with their best friends! We were so thankful that the group was ready to go and cooperative so we could get their portraits done quickly and efficiently so the gang could head inside to cool off!

Ceremony

Alannah and Brett envisioned an outdoor ceremony at Shawnee Inn, overlooking the Delaware River. The large trees and historic hotel background made for a gorgeous setting for their “I do’s!”

Reception

Due to the heat, the reception was moved indoors to one of the most charming reception spaces I’ve ever been in! The historic ballroom is so full of character and just so happened to match Alannah and Brett’s light pink wedding color palette!

Following introductions and dances, friends and family gave heartfelt toasts and blessings to the newlyweds. Shortly after dinner, we snuck Alannah and Brett outside for some sunset portraits, followed by a traditional cake cutting and lots and lots of dancing!

Alannah and Brett, it has been a pleasure serving you! I am so thankful for the beautiful friendship that has blossomed between us over these last few years and we wish you (and Brewster) the best as you begin your life together as husband and wife! Love you lots!
